Purpose
To validate the prediction score that predicts the likelihood of requiring thyroid hormone supplementation after hemithyroidectomy. This score is based on the preoperative TSH and anti-TPO status.
Study design: Prospective multicenter study
Study population: Patients eligible for a hemithyroidectomy who are being treated at one of the seven hospitals affiliated with the BeterKeten Thyroid Network.
Inclusion criteria
1. eligible for hemithyroidectomy
2. 18 years of age or older
Exclusion criteria
1. Preoperative thyroid dysfunction (patients with subclinical thyroid dysfunction can participate if untreated)
2. Thyroid surgery in the past
3. History of radiation therapy to the neck
4. Pregnant
5. Incapable of legal consent
Primary endpoint
Correlation between predicted probability of thyroid hormone supplementation (according to the prediction score) and actual probability.
