Thyroid Network

Excellent and consistent care

  • The thyroid and parathyroid care provided in our hospitals is high-quality, state-of-the-art, and meets all applicable requirements and standards;
  • Important underlying principles for us are: ‘Setting standards for surgical treatment’ (Dutch Society of Surgeons (NVvH): guiding for us), the ‘SONCOS standardization report’, and the ‘Thyroid carcinoma guideline’ (Netherlands Comprehensive Cancer Organisation (IKNL));
  • We all work according to the ‘Thyroid nodule’ regional care pathway;
  • The healthcare we provide meets national and international standards and the standards that we ourselves have set for the healthcare we provide;
  • We are committed to high-quality registration and improving thyroid and parathyroid care.

Multidisciplinary pooling of knowledge and expertise

  • We share our knowledge and expertise continuously in a multidisciplinary and inter-hospital consultation group;
  • All the disciplines at the participating hospitals are involved in these consultations;
  • Together we discuss the correct diagnosis and the best treatment for each patient; this means that the patient receives the best care in the best place.

High-quality information

  • Together we are committed to well-informed patients;
  • This website provides comprehensive information on thyroid disease, diagnostics, and treatment.

Cooperation on medical research

  • Healthcare and research go hand in hand in our network;
  • We are building a joint database and biobank for research;
  • Our science council promotes joint medical research;
  • Together, we make a valuable contribution to innovation and advances in thyroid and parathyroid care.

Network structure

  • Together we provide excellent, effective, and comprehensive diagnosis and healthcare;
  • Where necessary, we refer patients to a colleague;
  • Our network consists of one level 1 hospital and nine level 2 hospitals, in accordance with the requirements set by the Dutch Society of Surgeons and SONCOS (Society of all Medical Specialists in Clinical Oncology in the Netherlands). The network also includes one hospital that specializes in eye diseases.
