On Tuesday 13 February 2024, Dr. Caroline van Kinschot defended her PhD thesis at Erasmus University Rotterdam, titled: Towards Patient Tailored Care in Thyroid Disease. In her thesis, she investigated how care for patients with thyroid and parathyroid disorders can be further optimized, with attention to all phases of the care pathway — from making treatment decisions to surgical care and follow-up. She paid particular attention to individual differences in disease characteristics and patient treatment preferences. By explicitly acknowledging these differences, care can be better aligned with the needs and wishes of each patient.
